CORY for CONGRESS

GA-5

Economic Justice

Cory believes corporate oligarchy and billionaire's concentration of wealth and power is the single biggest issue facing the United States today

For too many the existing status quo of the economy has meant stagnating wages, worker instability, and too many of our people living paycheck to paycheck in a constant state of stress. Housing is unaffordable, Education is unaffordable, the basics like Groceries and Gas are too expensive, and we stand at the precipice of an AI and automation revolution which threatens to greatly exacerbate worker conditions and instability if not handled properly. We are the richest country; we spend over $800 billion dollars annually on the military; we don’t need to live like this. We need a Modern Social Contract which reworks the basics of the economy like Healthcare, Education, Housing, Gas, and Water, and guarantees the working class will share in the benefits of AI / Automation and not be made worse off by it.

Rewriting the Social Contract

Wealth and Wall Street

Cory will fight for a fair tax policy that restores the top marginal tax rates on corporations and billionaires. This combined with policies that reinvest in America will kickstart economic growth that empowers middle class families and younger generations and ultimately circulates more cash into the economy stimulating wealth generation at all levels.

$25 Federal Minimum Wage

The United States economy has experienced cumulative inflation of nearly 50% since the minimum wage was last raised to $7.25 in 2009. Cory will fight to raise the minimum wage to $25 per hour with increases adjusted for inflation. People shouldn’t have to work multiple jobs to get by.

Unions and Collective Bargaining

Cory believes in democratizing the workplace. Union organizing and collective bargaining are some of the strongest tools we as workers have, and that tool is losing power as AI and Automation continues to replace workers. We in all honesty need to organize a General Strike in this country for the basics like clean water, healthcare, and other essentials, which Cory will be a part of if elected. In Congress, Cory will cosponsor the PRO Act and support the rights of workers to unionize and build power.

Expanding Social Security and the Four Day Workweek

Before the modern era, new innovations in productivity like AI and Automation would improve life for everyone, and Cory believes we can get back to that earlier era of the country. He will support programs such as universal basic income, four-day workweeks, and other initiatives if or when workers begin to lose their livelihood due to new transitions in the economy.
