Foreign Policy
The United States has been and likely always will be a geographically blessed country with two large oceans protecting it and no rival states on our borders. This combined with the fact we came out of both world wars with one of the largest armies and navies the worlds ever seen has left us in a first-class position to be arbiters of world affairs and geopolitics at large. Too often in recent years we’ve used our outsized influence for nefarious means that benefit a powerful few rather than using this position to be a force for good for the many. Cory believes we can do better.
Ending Forever Wars
Cory supports the repealing of the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force which has enabled endless amounts of U.S. military involvement under the pretext of fighting “Terror” and the passage of the Iran War Powers Resolution in the House to stop the war against Iran. This needless and illegal war will not just increase the cost of living for Americans, but put the lives of millions who call the region home in jeopardy. We spend hundreds of billions of dollars each year annually on weapons of death when we could be spending those resources on Healthcare, Housing, and investing in the American people here at home.
Israel-Palestine
Cory agrees with Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the United Nations that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, including using starvation as a weapon of war. More than half of Gaza’s population is under 18, and Cory believes we must prioritize the protection of children and civilians. He supports the immediate suspension of U.S. military aid to Israel, an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza and illegal occupation and an end to the apartheid system in the West Bank.
Latin America and the Caribbean
The U.S. has a responsibility to support economic and democratic development in countries whose sovereignty we’ve historically violated. Too often these violations have taken the form of U.S.-backed coups and regime change efforts that ultimately fuels the manufactured “Migration Crisis” (Immigration is a Net Positive, but this is the narrative) to the United States. This crisis of migration is then cynically weaponized for political points by the same people whose interventions caused the waves of migration in the first place. Cory will advocate for a policy of post-colonial reparative support that will help rebuild and stabilize these regions and stem immigration coming from these areas.
