Education
We need College-for-All and more funding to go into our Public Schools and Universities, not less
With the rise of a consumer, service-based economy a good education has become one of the best avenues in which to empower a generation and provide financial stability. Despite the education system already not being in the best of shape between teacher pay being too low and students drowning in loan debt, what we’ve seen from the present administration is an almost malevolent attempt to sabotage education and science in this country even further.
We can see this in the illegal destruction of the Department of Education by DOGE, the diversion of funds from the public school system to charter schools, and the rise of anti-intellectualism and the cutting of scientific funding and research grants for Universities and Research Studies across the country.
In Congress, Cory will fight for a platform that expands access to education and make attendance free, raises the pay of teachers and adjunct professors, and provides the funding and tools to once again make America the greatest destination for the best minds in the world to do their innovating.
Tuition-Free Colleges and Universities
In a global economy, a well-educated workforce requires the removal of financial barriers to higher education. That's why Cory supports tuition-free public colleges, universities, community colleges, and vocational and technical schools. In a global economy, whichever worker adds the most knowledge to a product or service gets paid the largest portion, and we want that to be our workforce. Anyone that is seeking an education to better their circumstance should be able to find one without fear of going into debt.
Universal Pre-K
Childhood is among the most formative years of an individual’s development and study after study has shown preschool attendance improves individual’s outcomes. Research suggests Pre-K programs offer a 7-to-1 return on investment, between reducing the need for special education, grade retention, and future spending on social service or criminal justice among other things. Attendees are additionally more likely to graduate high school and affordable full-day Pre-K has the added benefit of freeing parents to enter or remain in the workforce. Every family and child deserves this type of investment regardless of income level.
Canceling American Student Loan Debt
Cory will cosponsor legislation to cancel existing student loan debt. Someone’s education requiring they go into a life-time of debt is a new phenomenon and we must remain cognizant of that fact. A 4 year bachelor’s degree which used to cost just $3700 in 1963 costed students around $90,000 in academic year 2022. We should wipe out all $1.5 trillion in debt we have and free the American worker to circulate that money back into the economy.
Increase Funding and Research Grants for Public Schools and Universities
It's a sad but true statement that today in 2026 teachers are underappreciated and underpaid and science is under attack. Cory supports raising wages for all school personnel—from daycare workers to adjunct professors, custodial staff to teaching assistants—and strengthening teachers’ unions across the country. He supports funding the public school system so a family doesn’t have to resort to a charter or private school for their kid to remain competitive. Cory is diametrically opposed to Trump’s policy of terminating or freezing over 7500 research grants and the fostering of the anti-intellectual climate that has seen 25,000 scientists and personnel gone from agencies that oversee research. He will support legislation that welcomes and funds the best and brightest.
