Cory believes healthcare is a human right – regardless of income or employment status, because we are human beings.

In a civilized society we shouldn’t be trading on the market different healthcare plans to determine whether our Liver or Intestines are covered or not. It’s not just the moral thing to do – it makes sense economically; in fact, the United States is the only high-income country that doesn’t guarantee healthcare as a right – yet we pay more per person than anywhere else. Medical bills are the leading cause of bankruptcy within the nation. We can do better – with a universal single-payer healthcare system.

Medicare for All

Cory supports the Medicare for All Act to guarantee healthcare to everyone in the United States. No more premiums, No more deductibles, No more “out of network providers,” or “That’s not covered in your plan”, and no more price gouging middle men organizations between you and the point of care. He also supports expanding medicare to cover vision and dental expenses.

Drug Price Negotiation

Big Pharma has literally gotten away with murder by charging Americans the most expensive prescription drug costs of anywhere in the world. An example I often go back to is the price of Insulin- a life saving, required drug costing almost nothing to manufacture yet going for hundreds of dollars on the market. Cory believes we must end this unconscionable dynamic by allowing medicare to negotiate prices across the board.

Protected Groups

Cory believes abortion is healthcare and a human right. In congress, he will champion and fight to restore abortion access nationwide. The people should be in charge of their own healthcare decisions- not politicians. In addition, Cory will support LGBTQ+ rights and gender-affirming care, which is also healthcare, and will stand up to far-right attacks on trans-youth and demonization.

Innovation

The Trump administration has overseen the freeze or outright termination of over 7500 Research Grants including things like children's cancer. Cory believes we need to go into the exact opposite direction. Cory will introduce legislation to increase funding to research institutes, analyze the human condition, and develop the medicines and therapies of tomorrow. Our nation used to be the envy of the world - the place the greatest minds went to do their innovating before Trump; we can be that country again. We should be investing our money into finding out whether our common household items like deodorants are carcinogenic and whether our food and water inspection services are working properly- not cutting funding in these areas and spending the proceeds on foreign wars.
